No disrespect intended, but please allow me to set the record straight. This what I am about to write is what I have learned and experienced during the passed 20 years of living here in Thailand. It is a form of massage which is taught at a number of venues around the country, and when done correctly, it can quite often be somewhat painful, both during the massage and for a few hours after the massage.

So much for X-rays, CAT scans, physio, and etc. During a traditional Thai massage, you are NOT naked, not ever! Instead, you will be given light and loose fitting garments to put one. In truth, this type of Thai massage is just a normal massage; the sort of massage that could even cause you to fall asleep.
Okay, maybe not quite so relaxing, but you get the picture. During these massages, it is very often left up to you whether you want to strip naked or not, but in many venues, if you do, they will issue you with loose fitting pair of shorts. Because Thais are very polite people, most massage ladies will not actually ask you to put your underwear back on, even if that is what they want.
In many of these venues, it is also expected of you to remove all your clothes so that your buttocks can also be massaged. Depending on the woman giving you the massage, and depending on what signals you are giving off, you may be offered a bit extra. Mostly, this means a bit of a penis and scrotum massage, followed by a hand job. Oil massages are more or less identical, but they are more gentle and are done at a slower pace.
